Jada Conner

Jada Conner, Director of Special Education, has served students, staff, and parents in education since 1986. She delayed beginning her public education career after graduating from BSU in order to prioritize getting her two children started in public school. While her children were young, she served as a director for an early childhood program in South Bend. In 1981, she received her B.S. degree from Ball State University focused in all areas of special education, M.S. degree from Indiana University in Learning Disabilities in 1989, and her administrator's license from Ball State in 2001. Prior to special education administration, Ms. Conner taught students with mild to moderate learning disabilities/abilities in elementary through 8th grade for ten years. She served as a Coordinator of Special Education for six years in Elkhart County prior to relocating to Fort Wayne. She was Assistant Director of Special Education for four years and is starting her 9th year as Director in Northwest Allen County Schools. She is also a member of her professional organization, ICASE, (Indiana Council of Administrators of Special Education) as well as CEC (Council for Exceptional Children). For two years, she served on the ICASE Executive Committee to provide a positive influence on services and programs for students with disabilities/abilities at the state and local level.

Through Ms. Conner's various experiences, education, and local/state involvement, her priority and guiding principle when making decisions about education continues to be 'what is best for the child/student' and how can the child/student better access their education through adaptations and accommodations.
