Dr. Christopher A. Himsel

Since 2010, Chris Himsel, PhD, has served as superintendent of Northwest Allen County Schools. He has served in the education profession since 1989 wherein he has been a mathematics teacher, basketball, tennis, and football coach, assistant principal, principal, director of secondary education and assistant professor at the collegiate level—all prior to becoming a superintendent for two school districts.

Dr. Himsel has served for six years on the legislative committee of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, and he has held other roles within the organization as well. He has participated in other professional organizations including the American Association of School Administrators, Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents, Indiana Growing and Suburban Schools Coalition, Indiana Urban Schools Association, and the Upper Wabash Valley Superintendent Study Council.

While most of his community service has revolved around education initiatives, Dr. Himsel participates in the Northeast Indiana Regional Opportunities Council, Greater Fort Wayne, Inc., Board of Directors, and Relay for Life.

Dr. Himsel and his wife, Deb, have five children and enjoy watching and participating in their many activities.
