REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Kent Somers, Liz Hathaway, Paul Sloffer, Ron Felger and John Hilger. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, a reporter and presenters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

DEMOGRAPHIC STUDY REPORT

The Demographic Study Report by McKibben Demographic Research was presented by Dr. Jerome McKibben.

E. GRANT/DONATION ACCEPTANCE Bill Mallers recommended acceptance of the following grants:


  • Safe Haven Program Grant in the amount of $27,699.00 to be used for the NACS School


    Resource Officer program.


  • Secured School Safety Grant in the amount of $50,000.00 to be used for security equipment.


    Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

    BUSINESS REPORT

    A. HEALTH INSURANCE & BENEFITS Recommended the following:


  • Health insurance plan premium increase of 2% for the October 1, 2016 renewal with Anthem.



  • Renew the annual Consulting Services Agreement with RESutton & Associates, effective


    October 1, 2016 for $19,000.00.

    Motion to approve by Ron Felger; seconded by Paul Sloffer. Motion carried.

    B. CORPORATION PURCHASES Building Corporation Purchases - $63,059.00. Motion to approve by Ron Felger; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

    C. CORPORATION PAYMENTS Building Corporation Payments - $8,537.90. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

    Motion to approve claims and payroll, subject to audit, by John Hilger; seconded by Ron Felger. Motion carried.

    Board Comments: Kent Somers commented that the Demographic Study Report was both exciting and troubling at the same time but was a testament to the NACS staff corporation wide. The June 11th board meeting will be rescheduled to a date to be determined.
