EXECUTIVE SESSION

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in executive session on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Office. Members present: Mary Wysong, John Hilger, Paul Sloffer, Ron Felger and Kent Somers. Also present: Chris Himsel.

I.C. 4-15-1.5-6.1(b) 9 To discuss a job performance evaluation of individual employees.

Mary Wysong led the meeting with the evaluation of an individual employee. Chris Himsel was dismissed. Mary Wysong presented additional information on the evaluation of an individual employee. Chris Himsel rejoined the meeting and reviewed the information presented.

No other business was discussed.

REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, November 11, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Mary Wysong, John Hilger, Paul Sloffer, Ron Felger and Kent Somers. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff; Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Mary Wysong called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the October 28, 2013 executive session and regular meeting as presented by Paul Sloffer; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

High-Ability: $58,917.00. Requested permission to accept the Safe Haven Program Grant in the amount of $8,050.00 to be used for the NACS School Resource Officer program. Requested permission to accept the Secured Schools Safety Grant in the amount of $50,000.00 to be used for security cameras at Maple Creek Middle School and Carroll Middle School. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

Chris Himsel noted that Northwest Allen County Schools, along with each school's PTO, is conducting a community survey to learn what the community knows and does not know about the district schools. The results of this survey will be used for future planning purposes by the district's staff and Board of School Trustees. The

survey will take place via telephone and will be conducted November 18 - 21, 2013.

  1. TEACHER EVALUATION PROCESS UPDATEDr. Tony Frontier gave an update about the Teacher Evaluation Process. Dr. Frontier shared about some of what is being taught to teachers and administrators to continue moving towards effective implementation of the guidelines that teachers are being evaluated on.
  1. VETERAN'S DAY PRESENTATIONChris Himsel showed an edited version of "A Salute to Veterans Day" which is a video created by the CHS Radio and TV II class in honor of Veterans Day.

Motion to approve claims and payroll, subject to audit, by Kent Somers; seconded by Ron Felger. Motion carried.

Board Comments: Kent Somers commented on the Veteran's Day program at Perry Hill Elementary School.
