Mobile Device Access - Add to Smartphone or Tablet Mail App

NOTE - This connection will copy at least a chunk of your mail data to your device. It is important that you keep your device password protected or securely stored at all times so that others are not able to access your information. If the device is ever lost or otherwise insecured, you or the tech department can remotely wipe the device to remove the email data. Contact us immediately if this is necessary.

These steps vary from device to device, and even between different versions of the email app on like devices, so you may find that the steps don't match what you see on your screens. It might be easiest to look through all the settings below first, then choose the ones that go with the prompts your device is giving.

Other Tips and Tricks

  • Once created, go back into the Settings of this e-mail account. (Either use the Settings app from above or on the Droid, open your mail then press Menu, Settings) The account settings are mostly what's from above, but look for options about Days to Sync, Notifications, etc.
  • Days to Sync - this usually defaults to three days of mail.
  • Notifications - some devices will default to playing a sound every time you get a message. You might want to confirm that this is set properly for sound and vibrating. The other notification is usually an envelope icon at the top.
  • Schedule - see how often the device will check for new mail. "Push" means you'll get them immediately. That can be nice, but it can also be death on your battery. Be ready to keep it charged or back off the frequency. If you set it to Never or Manual sync, it will either update as soon as you open the Mail app or you can choose Refresh once you open it to see the new mail.
  • Attachments - some devices default to Never include the attachment in forwarded mail. Change this if you intend for your forwarded messages to include the entire message with attachments.
  • If you decide you no longer want your NACS account your device, check in Settings for the option to Remove Account. This has no effect on your real NACS mailbox, just the copy on the device.
