The new version of PowerTeacher Gradebook allows you to put your students into any order you choose. For complete instructions, open the gradebook program and press F1 for Help. Click the Search tab and enter Sort Students. There is an article with that title explaining the steps. That article is also linked above.

In short, you'll go to Student Info and use the tiny icon by the Order number to drag the students into the order you want. Save it then go to Tools > Preferences > Student. Set it to Sort Students by Teacher Defined Order
