Laptop Speaker/Microphone Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble with the microphone or speakers on your student laptop, try these troubleshooting steps.
  1. Exit any Google Meets that you are in.
  2. In the Windows Search bar or icon (lower left of the desktop), search Troubleshoot Settings.
  3. In the Troubleshoot menu, scroll down to Playing Audio (speakers) or Recording Audio (microphones) and click on it.
  4. Click on Run the Troubleshooter.
  5. A window opens and says "Detecting Problems", then lists your speakers or microphone. If there is more than one option, the default is already checked.
  6. Click Next to start the troubleshooter.
  7. Follow the prompts to resolve any issues it finds and to test the results if offered.
  8. When it is finished, you can Close the troubleshooter.
  9. Rejoin your Meet and see if it is working better.
