REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 7;00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Mary Wysong, John Hilger, Paul Sloffer and Kent Somers. Ron Felger was absent. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, Bill Mallers, staff, students, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Mary Wysong called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the March 24, 2014 regular meeting as presented by Paul Sloffer; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

PERSONNEL/COMMUNICATIONS

  1. RESIGNATIONSSandy Canaveral, Carroll High Instructional Assistant, resigned as of 4/14/14. Melissa King, Carroll Middle Instructional Assistant SE, resigned as of 3/31/14.
  2. INTENT TORETIRE Tom Cashen, Maple Creek Teacher, submitted his notice of retirement as of 3/25/14.

Linda Clinkenbeard, Maple Creek Teacher, submitted her intent to retire as of the end of the 2013-14 school year. LuAna Felger, Bus Driver, submitted her intent to retire as of 6/5/14. Bronwyn Thayer, Hickory Center Teacher, submitted her intent to retire as of the end of the 2013-14 school year.

Pam Kaylor, Oak View Principal, requested permission to accept a donation from the Oak View PTO in the amount of $846.03 to be used for a laptop charging and storage cart. Nancy Eagle, NACS Curriculum Coordinator, requested permission to accept a Title III Supplemental Professional Development Grant inthe amount of $10,000 to be used to expand the current professional development opportunities for secondary general education teachers regarding Sheltered Instruction for ELL students. BUSINESS REPORT

  1. RESOLUTION - NACS403(b) PLANRecommended enclosed resolution authorizing a Roth 403(b) option for employees to consider as a part of the Northwest Allen County Schools 403(b) Plan. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Kent Somers. Motion carried.
  2. CAPITAL PROJECTS EMERGENCY RESOLUTIONRecommended approval of the enclosed Capital Projects Emergency Resolution for $8,399.27. Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Paul Sloffer. Motion carried.
