REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, June 8, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Ron Felger, Kent Somers, Paul Sloffer, Liz Hathaway and John Hilger. Also present: Chris Himsel, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, students, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Ron Felger called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the May 26, 2015 regular meeting as presented by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

PERSONNEL/COMMUNICATIONS

A. RESIGNATIONS Stephanie Brookshire, Carroll Middle Food Service Assistant, resigned as of 6/5/15. Nichole Diller, Huntertown Teacher, resigned as of the end of the 2014-15 school year. Scott Fox, Carroll High Teacher, resigned as of the end of the 2014-15 school year. Michele Huneck, Maple Creek Food Service Assistant, resigned as of 6/5/15. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

A. TEACHERS OF THE YEAR

Superintendent Chris Himsel and the School Board honored the 2014-15 NACS Teachers of the Year.

Elementary Teachers of the Year: Diane Barton - Music Teacher at Oak View and Hickory Center; Mindy Moeller - Kindergarten Teacher at Cedar Canyon. Secondary Teachers of the Year: Rhonda Swihart - English/Language Arts Teacher at MCMS; Casey Stansifer - English/Language Arts Teacher at CHS.

B. KRIS THIELE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL

DEVELOPMENT STIPEND

Superintendent Chris Himsel and the School Board honored the recipients of the Kris Thiele Memorial Scholarship and Professional Development Stipend. Scholarship recipient: CHS senior Sarah Ellingson. Professional Development Stipend recipients: Jill Del Priore - Special Education Teacher at Carroll Middle School; Casey Stansifer - English/Language Arts Teacher at CHS .

C. TECHNOLOGY PRESENTATION

Adela Dickey, Joe Meyer, Molly Shoup, and Dan Lestinsky attended the ASCD Conference and shared some of the things they discovered and learned while at the conference as it relates to one-to-one at NACS. The Conference fees were paid by a DOE grant.

BUSINESS REPORT

A. 2015-16 STUDENT FEES Recommended approval of the enclosed 2015-16 school year student fees. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

B. CORPORATION PURCHASES Building Corporation Purchases - $44,805.00 Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

C. CORPORATION PAYMENTS Building Corporation Payments - $376,632.98. Motion to approve by Kent Somers; seconded by Paul Sloffer. Motion carried.

Motion to approve claims and payroll, subject to audit, Liz Hathaway; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

Board Comments: Kent Somers, along with the other Board Members, expressed their appreciation to the NACS Teachers. Ron Felger reported that Graduation went well.
