REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, September 28, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Kent Somers, Liz Hathaway, Paul Sloffer, Ron Felger, and John Hilger. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, patrons, and a reporter.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

Before the meeting began President Kent Somers asked a moment of silence in honor of the two Arcola Elementary students who tragically passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016.

President Kent Somers called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the September 12, 2016 executive session, hearings and regular meeting as presented by Liz Hathaway; seconded by Ron Felger. Motion carried.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

Mr. Himsel reported that additional resources have been provided at Arcola Elementary the last two days. Staff and students are doing as well as can be expected given the circumstances. Prayers are with the family and friends of the children who passed away on Monday.

A. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING Recommended approval of the enclosed Memorandum of Understanding between NACS and NACEA. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

BUSINESS REPORT

A. RESOLUTION APPROVING REFUNDING Recommended enclosed resolution for the refunding of the 2007, 2008, 2008A bond issues. Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

B. CORPORATION PURCHASES Building Corporation purchases - $37,356.00. Motion to approve by Ron Felger; seconded by Paul Sloffer. Motion carried.

C. CORPORATION PAYMENTS Building Corporation payments - $12,259.00. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Liz Hathaway.

Board Comments: Kent Somers expressed condolences to the family, friends, NACS staff and Arcola community at the passing of the two children.
