REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Kent Somers, Liz Hathaway, John Hilger, and Ron Felger. Steve Bartkus was absent. Also present: Chris Himsel, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, students, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Kent Somers called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the March 13, 2017 Regular Meeting as presented by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

COMMENDATIONS

Dr. Himsel read commendations for the following: Congratulations to the groups from Maple Creek Middle School on their performances at the ISSMA Organizational Contest at Paul Haring on March 18th. Each group received a Gold Rating (1st Place) for their performance: 6th grade Choir; 6th grade Band; Concert Choir; 7th grade Band; 8th grade Band. The MCMS Jazz Band received a Gold Rating with Distinction which is the highest rating a group can receive at ISSMA.

BUSINESS REPORT

A. CHS CHILLER REPLACEMENT Recommended A. Hattersley & Sons, Inc. at a bid of $321,800 for the Carroll High School chiller replacement project. Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

B RESOLUTION FOR UTILITY EASEMENT Recommended the enclosed resolution to convey a utility easement by the Northwest Allen School Building Corporation to Indiana Michigan Power Company for $2,510 at the Union Chapel Road and Corbin Road intersection. Motion to approve by Liz Hathaway; seconded by Ron Felger. Motion carried.

C. CORPORATION PAYMENTS Building Corporation Payments - $37,846.40. Motion to approve by Ron Felger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

Motion to approve claims and payroll, subject to audit, by Liz Hathaway; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

Board Comments: Kent Somers expressed condolences to the NACS staff members who recently lost family members. Mr. Somers also wished everyone a safe spring break.

Superintendent's Comments: Dr. Himsel expressed condolences to the families of former CHS students Chase Warner and Gage Linnemeier. Dr. Himsel also wished staff and students a safe and restful spring break.
