REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Kent Somers, Liz Hathaway, Ron Felger and Steve Bartkus. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Kent Somers called the meeting to order.

Mr. Somers asked everyone to join in a moment of silence in honor of John Hilger, School Board Member, who recently passed away.

Motion to approve the minutes of the March 27, 2017 regular meeting as presented by Liz Hathaway; seconded by Ron Felger. Motion carried.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

A. ELECTRONIC BOARD PACKETS Recommended the purchase of the BoardDocs electronic file management system, and related training opportunities, for management of and access to information related to the work of the Board. The recommendation includes providing the Superintendent, or his designee, with the authority to prepare and to purchase or refurbish, as needed for each board member, computing devices necessary to implement successfully the BoardDocs system. Motion to approve by Liz Hathaway; seconded by Ron Felger. Motion carried.


BUSINESS REPORT

A. CAPITAL PROJECTS RESOLUTION Recommended approval of the enclosed Capital Projects Emergency Resolution for $5,146.00. Motion to approve by Liz Hathaway; seconded by Steve Bartkus. Motion carried.

Motion to approve claims and payroll, subject to audit, by Ron Felger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

Board Comments: Kent Somers expressed condolences to the NACS staff members, Terri Damman, Kathy Fanning and Melisa Jackowiak, who recently lost family members. Mr. Somers also offered condolences to the family of John Hilger, School Board Member. In additional, Board Members shared memories of serving on the NACS School Board with John along with other comments regarding his service.

Superintendent's Comments: Dr. Himsel, on behalf of NACS employees, also expressed condolences to the NACS staff members who recently lost family members and to the family of John Hilger.
