REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Kent Somers, Liz Hathaway, Ron Felger, Steve Bartkus and Kristi Schlatter. Also present: Chris Himsel, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Kent Somers called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the June 19, 2017 regular meeting as presented by Ron Felger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

BUSINESS REPORT

A. HEALTH INSURANCE & BENEFITS

Recommend the following:

  • Health insurance plan premium increase of 5% for the October 1, 2017 renewal with Anthem.
  • Prescription Drug co-pay change and a two-tiered provider system:
  • o $15 generic/$30 brand/$60 non-formulary for Preferred Providers

    o $25 generic/$40 brand/$70 non-formulary for Non-Preferred Providers

  • Prescription Drug benefit to include Anthem products of: Clinically Equivalent, Essential Drug List, Home Delivery Choice


  • Renew the annual Consulting Services Agreement with RESutton & Associates, effective October 1, 2017 for $19,000.00


    Motion to approve by Ron Felger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Chris Himsel thanked the Association for being active in keeping health care costs down. Motion carried.

    Superintendent's Comments: Chris Himsel reported that maintenance continues on buildings, Transportation is on target for Bus Inspection, the Agenda for the New Teacher Orientation is being finalized and Bill Mallers continues to prepare the upcoming budget. Reminder that 2017-18 Registration will begin on August 7th. In addition, Chris offered condolences to Dr. Shamanoff at the passing of her aunt.
