NACS To Hold First Annual Relay For Life

Northwest Allen County Schools will be holding their first annual Relay For Life in support of the American Cancer Society on Saturday, May 6th from 3 PM until 10 PM at Carroll Middle School.

Relay For Life is an American Cancer Society fundraiser to raise funds to provide research grants to universities, provide support to patients/caregivers by answering questions, provide money for hotels before surgeries, and by providing rides to treatments. The goal for NACS Chargers Fighting Cancer is to raise $30,000, much of which will be raised ahead of time.

Relay For Life is a day of Celebration and HOPE. Relay is a team fundraising event where team members take turns walking around the track. Each event is 6-24 hours in length and each team is asked to have a member on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. Teams/Individuals will walk the track from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm on May 6th. There will be opening & closing ceremonies, a survivor & caregiver dinner, a luminary ceremony, events to honor survivors & remember those who have passed away, and a dance for middle & high school students. There will be concessions, food-trucks, a bouncy house, games, special laps, and contests throughout the night. A DJ will provide dance music from 10:00 PM to 12:00 AM to end the celebration.
