REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Ron Felger, Paul Sloffer, John Hilger, and Liz Hathaway. Kent Somers was absent. Also present: Gloria Shamanoff, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, students, patrons and a reporter.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Ron Felger called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the January 26, 2015 Board of Finance meeting and regular meeting as presented by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

A. RESOLUTION FOR COMMERCIAL USE OF RECORDS Recommended the enclosed Resolution for Commercial Use of Records. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

B. RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PUBLIC EDUCATION Recommended the enclosed Resolution Supporting Public Education. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

Mr. Himsel congratulated the Carroll High School Debate Team who finished 4th in the recent state competition.

BUSINESS REPORT

A. PERRY HILL AND HUNTERTOWN ROOF BIDS Recommended CMS Roofing, Inc. at a bid of $521,500 for the Perry Hill and Huntertown Roofing projects. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

B. CAPITAL PROJECTS EMERGENCY RESOLUTION Recommended approval of the enclosed Capital Projects Emergency Resolution for $9,717.00. Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Paul Sloffer. Motion carried.

C. CORPORATION PURCHASES Building Corporation Purchases - $39,134.00. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

D. CORPORATION PAYMENTS Building Corporation Payments - $18,050.90. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

E. 2014 BUDGET REPORT Mr. Mallers - Report was presented on the 2014 budget.

John Hilger thanked Mr. Mallers for doing a good job.

Motion to approve claims and payroll, subject to audit, by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

Board Comments: John Hilger said he was proud of the Carroll High Boys Basketball team. Chris Himsel added that the Carroll High girls swim team won at sectional and 11 Carroll High wrestlers qualified for semi-state.

Audience Comments: Steph Wolfe, CHS Student Newspaper Reporter, asked what the plan is if Carroll High reaches capacity. Mr. Himself responded that current enrollment capacity at the high school is sufficient for current enrollment trends for the next few years.
