REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Mary Wysong, John Hilger, Paul Sloffer, and Ron Felger. Kent Somers was absent. Also present: Chris Himsel, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Mary Wysong called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the June 23, 2014 regular meeting as presented by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Ron Felger. Motion carried.

BUSINESS REPORT

  1. 2014 BUS PURCHASERecommended the purchase of five 78-passenger Thomas conventional buses from Kerlin Bus Sales $497,031.50 and two 54-passenger International special education buses from Midwest Transit Equipment for $221,326.00, through the Central Indiana Education Service Center (CIESC) Cooperative Purchasing bid program; for a combined total of $718,357.50. Motion to approve by Ron Felger; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

Chris Himsel commended Bill Mallers and the Transportation staff for working to get the funding where we could purchase the necessary buses.

  1. FOOD SERVICE REPORT FOR 2014-15Recommend the following for the 2014-15 school year: Dairy - Schenkels fixed bid; Food/Supplies - Gordon's (GFS) - HPS bid; Bread - Aunt Millie's.

Recommend the following meal prices for the 2014-15 school year: Lunch Prices - Elementary $1.60, Middle School $1.65, High School $1.70, Reduced-All Grades $.40 and Adults $2.40. Breakfast Prices - Elementary $1.35, Middle & High School $1.40, Adults $1.85 and Reduced-All Grades $.30. Motion to approve by Ron Felger; seconded by Paul Sloffer. Motion carried.
