EXECUTIVE SESSION

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in executive session on Monday, August 31, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Ron Felger, Kent Somers, John Hilger and Liz Hathaway. Paul Sloffer was absent. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, and Bill Mallers.

I.C. 5-15-1.5-6.1(b) 2 (A): For discussion of strategy with respect to collective bargaining.

Mr. Himsel presented information regarding collective bargaining.

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, August 31, 2015 at

E. EMERITUS RECOMMENDATION Recommended that NACS contract with Richard Vorick to continue to serve in an Emeritus position to work with all of our new elementary teachers by providing professional development and feedback on their teaching to complement the support provided by the teacher's building principal, provide professional development to any NACS teacher or school interested in additional C.L.A.S.S. training, mentoring teachers who have been notified of performance deficiencies and placed on an improvement plan, assist our principals in observing and evaluating teachers (particularly in those situations where a multiple opinions are needed), and leading the process of developing a curriculum for a pilot pre-school program (in light of potential changes to pre-school funding, we need to be prepared to offer pre-school opportunities that align with our kindergarten curriculum for children in need of such services). This position shall be compensated at an hourly rate to equal 75% of the daily/hourly rate at the time of his retirement and not to exceed 360 total hours during the course of the 2015-16 school year.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

A. PARKVIEW AGREEMENT Recommended approval of the enclosed Parkview Student & Employee Assistance Program Agreement. Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

Mr. Himsel asked that thoughts and prayers be with the both the Chris Dodane and Deb McGinn families.

BUSINESS REPORT

A. SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER AGREEMENT Recommended renewal of the enclosed School Resource Office (SRO) agreement with the Allen County Sheriff's Department for the 2015-16 school year. Motion to approve by Kent Somers; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

B. CAPITAL PROJECTS RESOLUTION Recommended approval of the enclosed Resolution for Emergency Appropriation for Capital Projects $3,000.00. Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

C. CORPORATION PAYMENTS Building Corporation Payments - $356,401.89. Motion to approve by Kent Somers; seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

Board Comments: None.

Audience Comments: Chris Dunn and Holly Dunn expressed concern about the implementation of their child's IEP and the pay rate of the educational interpreter position. Mr. Felger explained that this is something to be addressed by meeting with members of the administration.
