EXECUTIVE SESSION

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in executive session on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Ron Felger, Kent Somers, Paul Sloffer and Liz Hathaway. John Hilger was absent. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, and Bill Mallers and Tuck Hopkins.

I.C. 5-15-1.5-6.1(b) 2 (A): For discussion of strategy with respect to collective bargaining.

Mr. Himsel and Mr. Hopkins presented information regarding collective bargaining.

Meeting adjourned 7:00 p.m.

The undersigned certify that no other subject matter of business was discussed in the executive session other than the subject matter of business specified in the public notice of the executive session.

REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Ron Felger, Kent Somers, Paul Sloffer and Liz Hathaway. John Hilger was absent. Also present: Chris Himsel, Gloria Shamanoff, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, parents, patrons and a reporter.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Ron Felger called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the September 14, 2015 executive session, hearings and regular meeting by Liz Hathaway; seconded by Paul Sloffer pending one correction, the motion to adjourn the regular meeting was seconded by John Hilger. Motion carried.

K. GRANT/DONATION ACCEPTANCE Joe Meyer, Huntertown Elementary Principal, requested permission to accept a donation in the amount of $4,697.00 from the Debbie McGinn Memorial to be used to create a scholarship fund in honor of Debbie McGinn as well as for the Huntertown Elementary Library.

John Miller, Carroll Middle Principal, requested permission to accept a donation in the amount of $2,000.00 from the Carroll Middle School PTO to be used for professional development, student activities, equipment and supplies. Motion to approve by Kent Somers; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

A. FUND RAISERS Requested approval of the enclosed fund raising requests for the 2015-16 school year. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Kent Somers. Motion carried.

B. EVALUATION REPORT Mr. Himsel presented the Evaluation Report.

BUSINESS REPORT

A. CORPORATION PAYMENTS Building Corporation Payments - $116,082.40. Motion to approve by Kent Somers; seconded by Paul Sloffer. Motion carried.

Motion to approve claims and payroll, subject to audit, by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Kent Somers. Motion carried.

Board Comments: None.

Audience Comments: Mr. Todd Battershell reported that the sign on the Carroll High band storage building donated by he and his wife is complete. Joanne Seaman asked if an educational interpreter was hired as a part of the personnel and communications portion of this meeting. Mr. Felger confirmed that they were. Ms. Seaman asked if an update of salary and benefits for the educational interpreter was also included. Mr. Himsel asked her to schedule a personnel meeting to discuss this.
