REGULAR MEETING

The Northwest Allen County Board of School Trustees met in regular session on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Central Office Board Room. Members present: Ron Felger, Paul Sloffer, Liz Hathaway and John Hilger. Kent Somers was absent. Also present: Chris Himsel, Bill Mallers, Lisa Harris, staff, students, patrons and reporters.

Motions herewith mentioned are unanimous unless otherwise stated.

President Ron Felger called the meeting to order. Motion to approve the minutes of the April 27, 2015 work session, executive session and regular meeting as presented by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

PTO STUDENT ARTWORK PRESENTATION

Dr. Gloria Shamanoff welcomed Karen Hofer, CHS PTO President. Mrs. Hofer introduced NACS Student Artists and presented their artwork to the board. The artwork will be on display in the NACS Central Office for the upcoming school year.

J. GRANT/DONATION ACCEPTANCE Requested permission to accept the following:

Joe Meyer, Huntertown Principal, requested permission to accept a donation of equipment and supplies valued at $3,049.67 from the Huntertown PTO to be used to technologically enhance the art curriculum. Kate Johanningsmeier, Hickory Center Principal, requested permission to accept a donation from the Hickory Center PTO in the amount of $1,200.00 to be used for staff professional development with C.L.A.S.S. Brad Zern, Eel River Principal, requested permission to accept a donation from the Eel River PTO in the amount of $9,193.00 to be used for IPADs and a portable PA system. Kim Lochmueller, Cedar Canyon Principal, requested permission to accept a donation from the Cedar Canyon PTO in the amount of $30,000.00 to be used for playground expansion. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

A. FUND RAISER Requested approval of the following fund raiser: Carroll High Making Strides - Nelson's Chicken. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

B. PARKVIEW HEALTH CARE PERSONNEL AGREEMENT Recommended approval of the enclosed Parkview Health Care Personnel Agreement. This is a renewal of a previous agreement. Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

C. UPDATE ON SCHOOL START & END TIMES Chris Himsel gave an update on school start & end times.

BUSINESS REPORT

A. CORPORATION PURCHASES Building Corporation Purchases - $288,317.51 and Capital Projects fund - $430,686.00. Motion to approve by John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

B. CORPORATION PAYMENTS Building Corporation Payments - $458,752.11. Motion to approve by Paul Sloffer; seconded Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

Motion to approve claims and payroll, subject to audit, John Hilger; seconded by Liz Hathaway. Motion carried.

Board Comments: Chris Himsel asked that prayers continue for the students involved in the recent car accident. All students have been released from the hospital.
