Elementary Program/PEAK

  • NWEA Achievement Test Scores (Reading/Math)
  • SIGS (Scales for Identifying Gifted Students) for some students
  • CogAT (Cognitive Abilities Test) Scores (all students grades K/2/5)(Verbal/Quantitative/Nonverbal)
  • Blind review of data
  • Building identification committee makes final placement determination

Middle School Programs

Criteria vary from course to course but might include:

  • NWEA minimum scores in Reading & Math
  • CogAT minimum scores in Verbal & Quantitative
  • Teacher recommendation (considers class grades)
  • Self-nomination procedures (contact counselor)
  • Parent approval

High School Programs

Criteria vary from course to course but might include:

  • Prerequisites
  • Standardized test scores (may include NWEA or ECAs)
  • Teacher recommendation (considers class grades)
  • Self-nomination procedures (contact counselor)
  • Parent approval
